Freedom of speech

In the article “Controversy blights UN net summit,” by Twist, the author discusses whether the internet communication should be controlled. The author also says that the management of the net has some problems. At first, the author states that the funding is not enough to control the gap between rich and poor countries. The level of technologies and knowledge can not manage the net yet. Then, the US delegation supports this point – someone needs to oversee the management of the net. Also, the Chinese government agrees with this; China does not hope to keep freedom of speech on the Internet. However, freedom of speech should be guaranteed.

It is clear to see that freedom of speech on the Internet should be supported. Internet is a global service system. Country A can get country B’s information; in the same way, country B can get country A’s recent developments. If we guarantee freedom of speech, it can advance our development. Therefore, by keeping freedom of speech going, that will make government more public; people can do more communication; and society will have what it needs to develop.

First, guaranteeing freedom of speech on the Internet helps us to demystify the working of government. That is because when the government becomes more public, people can get more information about the government movement or situation, whether it is good or bad. So the government will become more persuasive, so that it can get more trust from people. Basically, government’s labor efficiency must be as good as possible.

Second, people can do more communication on the Internet, so people can search for government movements, global news, entertainment, and classes of education, that can improve people’s quality, ability, sense, discretion, and culture. The important point is that people can do lots of conversation that can keep loneliness away. The internet also has some convenient service systems, such as shopping online, payment online and booking online. So people need this kind of freedom of speech on the net; it can play an important role in their lives.

Finally, if there is no speaking, there is no development. China is the most important export country; if we don’t have Internet service, communication will become slow, and export trade will waste more time and cause a great financial loss. The other countries will be involved in a flat spin. However, new technology and knowledge are often posted on the Internet first; if we control the freedom of speech on the net, we can not improve ourselves, so the social development will become slow and the gap between poor and rich nations will be wider.

In conclusion, keeping freedom of speech going is a prerequisite for the whole world. We have had the right of freedom of speech for a long time. Everyone knows we can not leave the Internet, so as I just said we need this net; everyone needs communication on the Internet; and if we manage speech on the Internet, we will lose a lot. Regardless of countries’ relationships, government issues and personal chat, we all need speech on the Internet, so freedom of speech on the Internet must be guaranteed.
